25 Nov True Faith
New Order’s single True Faith came out in 1987 and went straight to the top ten in the UK.
This surreal music video was directed by Philippe Decouflé. In it, bizarrely costumed dancers leap about, fight and slap each other in time to the music. There is also a girl that signs the lyrics. The video has often been voted amongst the best music videos of the late 80’s. The overall tonality, themes and various elements from the video re-occurred in Decouflé’s scenography and choreography for the inauguration ceremonies of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville.
Note: The song was also featured in the 2000 film, American Psycho and played during the famous nightclub scene.
